Beauty With Practicality

Aluminum Composite Sound-Absorbing Ceiling Panel

Aluminum Composite Sound-Absorbing Ceiling Panel

The aluminum composite sound-absorbing ceiling panel combines a modern perforated aluminum surface with a high-performance acoustic core. It is designed for architectural ceiling projects that require attractive decoration, effective echo control, durability, and convenient maintenance.

Unlike ordinary solid aluminum ceiling panels, the perforated surface allows sound waves to enter the panel structure. The sound energy is then absorbed by the fiberglass or rock wool layer behind the aluminum face, helping reduce reverberation, reflected noise, and excessive echoes.

This integrated design makes the panel suitable for offices, conference rooms, hotels, transportation buildings, shopping malls, schools, hospitals, theaters, auditoriums, and other commercial or public interiors.

How the Sound-Absorbing Structure Works

The acoustic performance of the ceiling panel is created by the complete composite structure rather than by the aluminum surface alone.

A typical system includes:

  • Perforated aluminum decorative face
  • Acoustically transparent non-woven fabric
  • Fiberglass or rock wool sound-absorbing core
  • Optional reinforced or composite backing
  • Compatible ceiling suspension or fixing system
  • Air cavity above the ceiling panel

Sound waves pass through the perforations and acoustic fabric before entering the porous core. Part of the sound energy is converted and dissipated within the fiberglass or rock wool structure, reducing the amount of sound reflected back into the room.

The final NRC performance depends on the perforation ratio, hole diameter, acoustic core thickness, density, air cavity, backing material, and installation method. Depending on the selected configuration, fiberglass core systems can provide NRC values of approximately 0.90–0.95.

Available Core Materials

Different composite cores can be selected according to the acoustic, fire, thermal, structural, moisture, and budget requirements of the project.

Fiberglass Acoustic Core

Fiberglass provides high sound absorption with relatively low weight. It is suitable for offices, conference rooms, cinemas, hotels, schools, studios, and other environments where controlling reverberation is important.

Rock Wool Acoustic Core

Rock wool combines sound absorption with thermal insulation and enhanced fire performance. The required density and thickness can be customized according to the project specification.

Aluminum Honeycomb Core

An aluminum honeycomb core improves panel rigidity and flatness, making it suitable for larger ceiling modules. When high acoustic performance is required, it should be combined with an additional porous sound-absorbing layer.

XPS or Foam Core

XPS and foam materials can provide thermal insulation or lightweight backing. Because these are generally closed-cell materials, they should not be treated as the primary acoustic layer unless used as part of a specifically engineered composite structure.

Perforation Options

The aluminum face can be manufactured with different perforation patterns to meet both decorative and acoustic requirements.

Available options include:

  • Round perforations
  • Square perforations
  • Slot perforations
  • Micro-perforated patterns
  • Staggered or straight-hole arrangements
  • Customized decorative perforations
  • Different hole diameters and spacing
  • Customized open-area percentages

The perforation pattern should be selected according to the desired appearance, sound absorption target, panel size, and structural requirements.

Colors and Surface Finishes

A wide range of colors and surface finishes is available for different interior design styles:

  • Standard white
  • Black and gray
  • RAL powder-coated colors
  • Wood-grain finishes
  • Stone and marble textures
  • Metallic finishes
  • Brushed decorative finishes
  • Customized colors based on approved samples

Powder-coated aluminum surfaces provide a clean appearance and help improve resistance to moisture, corrosion, and everyday wear. A physical sample should be approved before mass production.

Custom Sizes and Ceiling Systems

The aluminum composite sound-absorbing ceiling panel can be manufactured in different sizes, thicknesses, edge profiles, and installation configurations.

Customization options include:

  • Panel length and width
  • Aluminum face thickness
  • Acoustic core type and density
  • Acoustic core thickness
  • Overall composite thickness
  • Perforation pattern
  • Surface color and finish
  • Lay-in or clip-in installation
  • Concealed fixing systems
  • Customized edge and joint details

Panels can be designed for standard modular ceiling grids or project-specific suspension systems. Lighting, ventilation, sprinklers, loudspeakers, access panels, and other ceiling equipment should be coordinated before production.
